Role Overview
The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for driving the technical execution of data workflows, turning complex health and social sector datasets into clean and actionable insights. This role focuses heavily on data architecture, advanced analysis, and dashboard development. The ideal candidate is a highly technical, hands-on professional who can take ownership of data quality, build automated workflows, and work independently to support the analytical needs of regional programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from multiple program sources
- Support the preparation of dashboards, charts, and data visualizations for program reporting
- Conduct basic descriptive and trend analysis on program indicators and performance data
- Assist in maintaining data quality by identifying and flagging inconsistencies or gaps
- Support the development and maintenance of data trackers and reporting templates
- Contribute to the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly data reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in documenting data processes, definitions, and data dictionaries
- Support data entry validation and reconciliation across program databases
- Collaborate with MERL and program teams to understand data needs and translate them into analytical outputs
- Assist in preparing data summaries and presentations for learning and decision-making sessions
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics or a highly quantitative field
- Possess a minimum of 3 – 6 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or research implementation
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in SQL for database design, writing complex queries, and managing data warehouses
- Demonstrate proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, automation, and applying statistical methodologies to social impact metrics
- Have strong familiarity with digital data collection platforms used in the development sector, such as DHIS2, KoboToolbox, or ODK
- Strong communication skills to translate complex statistical findings into clear insights for program teams and stakeholders
- Ability to manage technical priorities independently, deliver data products on tight timelines, and maintain a strict commitment to data security protocols
