As part of our growth, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Lead to oversee and strengthen our financial management systems, ensure compliance, and provide strategic financial insights that support organizational decision-making.

Role Overview

The Finance Lead will be responsible for managing the end-to-end finance function of the organization. This includes financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, cashflow management, and advising leadership on financial strategies to support business sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission, including long-term budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning to support program growth and sustainability in low- and middle-income contexts.
  • Budget Management and Oversight: Lead the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of annual budgets, grants, and project-specific finances. Ensure prudent allocation of resources across services like program implementation, digital innovation, and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, donor requirements, and international standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP). Manage audits, tax compliance, and risk assessments, particularly for multi-country operations and funding from partners and funders.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Produce accurate financial reports, dashboards, and insights for leadership, board, and stakeholders. Analyze financial data to inform decision-making, identify efficiencies, and measure the impact of initiatives on health outcomes.
  • Grant and Donor Management: Oversee the financial aspects of grants, including proposal budgeting, expenditure tracking, and reporting to donors. Collaborate with program teams to secure funding and ensure financial sustainability for equity-focused projects.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, equity, and integrity. Provide training on financial best practices tailored to public health consulting.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamline financial processes using digital tools to enhance system strengthening, cost control, and transparency. Support cross-functional teams in integrating financial prudence into strategy design and service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with external partners, auditors, and policymakers to advance financial goals. Contribute to knowledge translation by turning financial data into compelling stories that highlight organizational impact.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Experience working in consulting, professional services, or development projects is an advantage.
