Role Overview
The Data Analyst will support the Data & Digital Innovation team in transforming program data into actionable insights. The role provides hands-on exposure to data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization within a mission-driven organization working across health and social sectors in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from multiple program sources
- Support the preparation of dashboards, charts, and data visualizations for program reporting
- Conduct basic descriptive and trend analysis on program indicators and performance data
- Assist in maintaining data quality by identifying and flagging inconsistencies or gaps
- Support the development and maintenance of data trackers and reporting templates
- Contribute to the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly data reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in documenting data processes, definitions, and data dictionaries
- Support data entry validation and reconciliation across program databases
- Collaborate with MERL and program teams to understand data needs and translate them into analytical outputs
- Assist in preparing data summaries and presentations for learning and decision-making sessions
Requirements
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Public Health, or a related field (minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) or First Class)
- Must have completed NYSC
- Minimum of 1-year relevant experience in data analysis, research support, or a related role
- Demonstrable experience working with real datasets (academic, internship, or volunteer work accepted)
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts, data cleaning)
- Familiarity with at least one data analysis or visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, or SQL)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Ability to interpret and communicate data findings clearly to non-technical audiences
- Good understanding of basic statistical concepts (averages, percentages, trends, distributions)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple datasets simultaneously
- Willingness to learn and work within structured data workflows and reporting cycles
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
